| WORKSHOP Whenever we start a workshop, we notice the method of communication that is being formed among all the various participants as they are planning. The diversity which gives birth to a new figure is related to the concept of our メgroupモ. Whichever the case, in a workshop or as a group, the most important factor is expressing oneユs individuality. |

| 2001 Summer Hikari Nursery Exertive Building. A few professionals and mostly amateurs. In all about 120 people. Caretakers, a carpet salesman, government officials, students from all over Japan. After nails were pulled from the beat up lumber, they were planed, then chiseled. At the beam raising ceremony, rice cakes were pounded and everybody got drunk. Even mud bricks were laid. Is the building finished or still under construction? All we know is something that can be fondly remembered has been built. |

| The Wood There is a wood chip factory in Tokachi that gets its wood from demolished houses. We gathered about 500 pieces of used pine and oak lumber there. They were reused for the columns and beams of the nursery. After, we painted them a bright Indian red. |
A Family Owned Nursery Babies less than a year old to preschool children, in all about twenty kids, spend their days at Hikari Nursery. There arenユt any classrooms or a teacherユs room. Hikari Nursery isnユt like a メnurseryモ; itユs more like a big family. Like a family, there is change and growth at Hikari Nursery. |

| The Soil Near the Taisetsu mountains, we got sticky red soil from a farm in the town of Shikaoi. Used for the earthen floor and sun dried bricks for the walls, it presents us a new appearance everyday. |

| A Never Ending Building Even now Hikari Nursery is unfinished. From now it will be remodeled and added onto. Even then it will still be unfinished. Come summer, people will gather once again to build, to talk, and to drink at the workshops and festivals. |
